Optimal Design of Novel Electromagnetic-Ring Active Balancing Actuator with Radial Excitation

Abstract Imbalance vibration is a typical failure mode of rotational machines and has significant negative effects on the efficiency, accuracy, service life equipment. To automatically reduce imbalance during operational process, different types active balancing actuators have been designed widely applied in actual production. However, existing electromagnetic-ring actuator based an axial excitation structure which can cause structural instability low electromagnetic driving efficiency. In this paper, novel radial working principle with combined strategy are presented detail. Then, finite element model, performance parameters analyzed, reasonable design obtained. Self-locking torque measurements comparative static dynamic experiments performed to validate self-locking efficiency actuator. The results indicate that sufficient torque, achieves normal step rotation at 2000 r/min, reduces voltage by 12.5%. proposed using combination permanent magnets soft-iron blocks improved more stable compact structure.
